Hey folks,
As you probably know I’ve been recording a series of podcasts with Davis Mattek and Pat Kerrane breaking down our consensus dynasty rankings.
Both the consensus ranks and my ranks are available for Paid Thinking About Thinking subscribers. (See this post for details)
In a future episode we will be doing a mailbag episode answering questions about our ranks the podcast series from subscribers to each of our respective sites.
I also know several of my subs are especially dynasty focused and want to make sure you’re getting value out of your subscription during my best-ball focused summer content. So I’m going to take this chance to also write a mailbag response post in the next couple weeks.
SO: please comment with any dynasty related questions you have. For those more focused on the rankings or our podcast series, I will aim to have those answered on the podcast. But if you have any dynasty related question whatsoever, I will be taking those up in the newsletter post.
Just a few guidelines:
I can’t promise to answer every question: it really depends on how many get asked. But I will try my best to answer the vast majority of thoughtful questions
I will de-prioritize the least scaleable questions: i.e. “would you trade X for Y” or “who should I take in Round 6 of my startup?”
If you do want to ask a trade question, I much prefer trade strategy questions such as: “If you’re rebuilding would you want to trade away an asset like X or trade for an asset like Y”
My favourite questions to answer are always the broadest questions that explore dynamic topics and where my answer will have the most universal value to all readers
Please leave all questions in the comments of this post! (*Only paid subs can comment)
One note: Also happy to treat this as a quasi-AMA:
If you have any (appropriate) non fantasy football related questions (music, sports, movies, philosophy, law etc.), I'm happy to add a little rapid fire response on those at the end :)
How do you adjust your base pick valuations for different positions and player archetypes for different league settings (e.g., PPR No TEP, 0.5 PPR No TEP, 2 TE, 4 pt passing TD, best ball, 10 TM, etc.) than those with which you made your rankings? Is there a general rule of thumb you follow (e.g., adjust up/down 0.5 base 1s if the settings are favorable/unfavorable for a position)? In what type of league settings are the elite players more valuable? Since it is fairly unfeasible to do this exercise for all different types of league settings, maybe pick one and go more in-depth describing the thought process you use to adjust your base pick valuations to help extrapolate that line of thinking to any league setting.
Thanks for all the effort you put into the substack! It has been by far my favorite source of fantasy football information since its inception, and I'm excited to keep reading it into the future.
