Hey folks,
I will have my spotlight column for the Hitchhiker’s Guide up tomorrow AM or Saturday AM at the latest. But today I just wanted to let you know I have a dynasty ranks update for you!
I will be recording an in-season edition of the Dynasty Pod series with Davis Mattek and Pat Kerrane shortly going over some of the biggest risers and fallers, and wanted to update my ranks to reflect my views on this.
My Top 200 is fully updated. I have “hidden” my Annotated RB Tiers for now to avoid confusion as they would be out of sync with the Top 200 but I’ll update those to match for my next update in a couple weeks.
One note: I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the “Base” pick value and the tiers. I added an explanation of the base pick value in the sheet for those new to the site or who have any confusion. In plain language, it means a pick in the current year that is equally likely to be any slot 1-12. Because of that, there is no true “base pick” in an actual league, and when making trades you should use this as more of a guide post from which to adjust the actual value of the pick you are trading for / away.
Also, I’ve added some more clarifying language to the tiers. In general, if the tier is written as “[value]+” this means the least valued player in this tier is valued at that mark, with each successive player being valued slightly more. I use the “+” for high-valued players to signal that in shallower leagues, less active leagues, or high-value teams, you should be more willing to pay a premium for elite players. In the mid-tiers, the assigned value should generally be seen as the median value for that tier. So someone at the absolute top of the “late 1st” tier might be worth slightly closer to a mid 1st, while someone at the bottom of that tier is maybe closer to two seconds. It’s an imperfect, sliding scale, not a rigid system.
Best of luck this weekend in all your matchups!
