Ok folks, we just wrapped up pre-season Week 1 which to me is the unofficial transition into #RedraftSZN. I have just done a fresh update of my Best Ball Mania Ranks, but wanted to go a little more in depth with these, to mix in some macro and micro takes.
I’m not going to release different ranks between managed-redraft formats, but my hope is that given the level of detail in this article, you can help adapt them as needed to the specifics of your league. The majority of my redraft play will be in either NFC or FFPC tournaments, in which you play in a 12-person league, in hopes of advancing into a championship pool based on total scoring to compete for a grand prize. The most significant difference between NFC and FFPC is that the later is Tight End Premium. Whether you’re on NFC, FFPC, Yahoo, Sleeper, ESPN, or anywhere else under the sun, please adjust as needed for the settings you play with — and crucially — the ADP of your site.
Because I think it’s the easiest way for me to convey to you my true analysis, and because my subscribers will range widely in where they play, what format, and how many drafts they are in, my rankings are based on a mythical world in which you are drafting only one team and there is no set ADP. But you don’t live in that world. So if I have someone ranked three rounds ahead of ADP, you may want to take someone else I have ranked ahead of ADP first, and then circle back next round.
I’m stating my preferences and I’ll leave the operationalization of those preferences with you. That being said, these rankings are based on NFC scoring settings, which is the best middle ground between FFPC and ‘home league’ sites:
Full PPR
No TE-Premium
6-point Passing TD
0.05 points per passing yard (5 points per 100 yards)
1QB ; 2RB ; 2WR ; 2-Flex ; 1TE starting lineups (plus K and DST)
I’m not going to discuss every player, but I’ll write out each tier, and then try to make some notes on particular players where I think my rank most requires an explanation. If you want to know more on any other player, please leave a comment.
Target = Bold
Fade = Italic
