My Favourite RB in Every Round: Rounds 3-10
Ya that's right. Favourite is spelled with a 'U.' #Canada
Hey folks,
Yesterday I posted my last backfield breakdown, with thoughts on the Lions, Packers, and Broncos. This wraps up a series in which we did a HHG breakdown on every backfield without a clear-cut workhorse. If you missed any, here are all the links:
HHG Part 1: Ambiguous Backfields — Eagles and Saints
HHG Part 2: Ambiguous Backfields — Dolphins and Bears
HHG Part 3: Fragile Backfields — Vikings and Panthers
HHG Part 4: Fragile Backfields — Texans and Rams
HHG Part 5: Emergency FA addition edition — Jets and Patriots
HHG Part 6: Fragile Backfields — Buccaneers and Cardinals
HHG Part 7: New Faces of the Dead Zone — Jaguars, Steelers, Seahawks, Ravens, Bills
HHG Part 8: Divided Backfields — Commanders and Chiefs
HHG Part 9: High-Value Splits — Lions, Packers, Broncos
Bonus: Jonathan Taylor Fall-out, and What’s Next for the Colts?
That leaves the following backfields with a more clear-cut role distribution un-discussed:
49ers, Chargers, Falcons, Browns, Cowboys, Giants, Titans, Raiders, Bengals
I evolved the column this year from one about streaming RBs only, to a commentary on backfield ambiguity, and wanted to dive into backfields represented throughout the dead zone. Perhaps one day I’ll extend it to all 32, but with how much detail I try to offer in each piece I wanted to retain a (somewhat) narrowed focus. I’ll once again recommend Pat Kerrane’s legendary upside scenarios piece which covered basically every RB I didn’t.
My original plan was to offer a brief take on the backup contenders in each of the remaining backfields, and then offer my favourite picks in every round. But I presume some people have drafts tonight and you deserve some more directly actionable advice. So today I’m giving my top targets in Rounds 3-10 for each of Underdog tournaments, FFPC tournaments, and Home Leagues. Tomorrow, I will write up the backup contenders I’ve yet to touch on, and following that I’ll do part two of this article for rounds 11-18.
Here’s how we’re going to organize it:
I’ll use the FFPC Main Event and Underdog scoring settings and ADPs. For anyone unfamiliar,
UNDERDOG = 0.5 PPR, best ball, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1FLEX, 10 Bench
FFPC = PPR, TEP, managed, 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2FFLEX, 1K, 1DST, 10 Bench
For “home leagues” I’ll be using 4for4’s aggregated ADP which builds in ADP from seven different platforms. These rankings are not based on a tournament format. I’ll presume the settings to be PPR, 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1FLEX.
I am not going to “force” a favourite. If there is no back I recommend taking in a given round I will leave that round as N/A and briefly explain who I’m targeting in those RBs’ stead.
There is a lot of overlap between these picks, and I’ve written about them all in excruciating detail in my previous 10 posts. So when I mention each player the first time, I’ll briefly summarize the high notes from the article in which they were featured.
These are my “cost adjusted” favourites. Especially in the higher rounds, I may prefer a player going at 3.02 vs. The player going 3.11, while preferring the value of the 3.11 player overall.
Let’s ride!
